Thanks 2011 - Dear Friends,

On this holiday of Thanksgiving, I find so many things to be thankful for in my life and in my work.  I am blessed to be surrounded by such caring and loving people, my wonderful family and my great staff.  They are all people who understand the true joys and blessings a pet can bring into your life.
Every single day I get to see the difference a pet can make.  People struggling with sadness, illness, and loss find strength, compassion, and even comic relief from their dogs and cats.  On my toughest days my clients sweet pets, and my own, can lift my spirits and bring me great joy.  How blessed I am to spend my life in the company of pets.
I feel that without a doubt my clients are special.  They truly understand the importance of the human/animal bond, and the importance of keeping the whole animal well; medically and behaviorally.
Thanks to all of my clients for helping me spread the word, I’m now seeing more behavioral clients and patients than ever.  And this year, I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at JCCC Pups on Parole Program helping with their behavioral work.  I feel like together we are really starting to make a difference, and I am so thankful.

Along with my great staff and my most wonderful husband, we wish you all a holiday season filled with good health, much happiness, and some quiet times to spend with your pets.

            Happy Thanksgiving,

            Dr. Mar Doering

Thanks 2010 - Dear Friends,

A new year is upon us.  It’s hard to believe time passes so quickly.  It’s been almost a year since the clinic unveiled our new name and new vision.  I am very proud of All Paws Medical & Behavioral Center.  I love the name because it explains exactly what we’re about, what we do, and who our patients are.  My husband, Dave, came up with the name and I can’t thank him enough.
I am proud, too, that I have a staff dedicated to excellence, and willing to go the extra mile or two to help me make a difference.  And I am proud to know such wonderful pet owners who are so committed to their dog’s and cat’s care.
We’ve accomplished a lot in 2010 with our medical, surgical and behavioral care, but we have a lot more to do in 2011.  I’m excited about all of it.  I’m blessed to love what I do and love those that I do it for.
Please contact us if we can help you and your dear pets in anyway, and thank you for referring your friends and family to All Paws.

I hope you and your pets have a happy and healthy 2011.
            -Dr. Mar Doering

Pups on Parole

The more I work with animals who suffer from phobias and anxieties or those who just need some rules and direction in their life, the more I realize how important my behavioral work is. Too many pets are being tossed aside, sent to shelters, or euthanized for so called "bad" behaviors.
My quest to make a difference has taken me to a most unusual place; the Jefferson City Correctional Center and their "Pups on Parole" program. The program is only one year old, but it has already made a big impact.
Dogs are chosen from the Jefferson City Animal Shelter to enter this program. They are matched with carefully selected offenders who train the dogs to be great pets in forever homes. A select group of dogs are even chosen for the specialized therapy program to become helpers for people with special needs. To date JC Correctional Center has adopted out 63 dogs, and the entire department has already adopted almost 200 dogs. Amazing.
The Warden at JC Correctional Center totally believes in this program, and everyone who works with “Pups on Parole” is dedicated to it's success. I am very proud to be part of something that is making such a huge difference for people and for pets.

The Pet Connection
Our TV show is on hiatus while our producer prepares the second season.  If you missed our first season on PBS, you can still view each segment on our website www.thepetconnection.tv.

All of the clinic pets were big stars.  Petunia, Gussie Grissom, Duckie Doodle, Macaroni ‘n Cheese, Asie, Hoss, Little Joe and Taz loved the filming, and can’t wait to see more. I’ll let you know when we’re on the air again.  Thank you all for watching and especially for your support.

We highlight a special patient of All Paws who really touched our hearts.  We may focus on your cutest puppy or kitty, your extraordinary older girl or boy or a patient who fought bravely to overcome a serious illness or injury.
Every single one of your pets is important to us.  We want to share a few of our patients with the world. read more

Healthy Tips
Preventative pet care is incredibly important to me.  I feel that the more you know about caring for your pets and what makes them “tick,” the better we can work together as a team to keep your pets healthy and happy.
I will discuss everything from giving your pet a pill and brushing their teeth to diagnosing and treating diseases, and even introducing you to the basics on surgeries I perform at the clinic.
I hope to answer any questions you might have as well.

Based on the research of Dr. Edward Bach, an MD and bacteriologist in the early 1900’s.  Dr. Bach noticed the connections between stress, emotional problems and the onset of illness in his patients.  He understood the need to treat the patient as a whole organism rather than a set of isolated symptoms.  He went in search of a simple, safe way to restore balance of the immune system in an effort to fight disease.
