“Lights, camera, action!”What fun it’s
been, also a little scary,
but most of all, I feel very honored to have been chosen to represent
my profession
and to have the opportunity to talk about my favorite subject; pets.
Yes, we’ve been filming a television show at the All Paws Medical & Behavioral Center since July 2006.

The name of
the 30 minute program is “The Purple Heart Pets.” Choosing
the right name was especially important to me, and “The Purple Heart Pets”
really said it all for me because I believe in the incredible bond or
connection that develops between people and their pets. I feel privileged
to have spent a lifetime caring for pets and the people who love them.
This “Purple Heart Pets” is what our show is all about. It
gives me the chance to discuss the health and feeding of your pets,
to explore new developments in veterinary medicine and even alternative
medical therapies, to learn how to communicate and become a good “friend”
when sharing your life with a different species, and we’ll even
get to check out some really wonderful breeds of dogs and cats.
I have two wonderful producers on the show. First is Michael Moyer who
owns Niche Productions and already produces the PBS show, “The
Tying Bench”. Second is Rian Campbell, a UMC graduate with a degree
in communications. Michael and Rian really know their craft and have
helped me to feel comfortable in front of the camera. They have made
our show a real work of art that I’m very proud of.
- Many of my clients have allowed their wonderful pets,
and sometimes themselves, to be filmed. I owe them a big “thank
you.”
- My great staff, Priscilla Hostman, Chelsay McDowell
and Jodi Suggett and their pets, have helped me greatly with the show.
- My husband, Dave, has been my biggest supporter,
bringing snacks to each filming, holding cue cards, and helping with
so many behind the scenes activities.
- And, last but certainly not least, my pack of dogs
and cats have become the most wonderful actors. The K-9 team includes:
“Gussie Grissom”, the calm Westie; “Macaroni and
Cheese”, the hound; “Duckie Doodle”, the wild and
crazy Westie; “Ozzie”, the Australian Shepherd; and “Maggiano”,
the giant Affenpincher. My trio of kitty stars is led by “Petunia”
and the boys “Hoss” and “Little Joe.” You’ll
soon meet them all.
So please join us to see the show. I’ll keep you
posted when and what channel we’ll be on. Hopefully we’ll
hit the air in the fall. Each week I’ll have an article on the
website.
Please tell your friends and neighbors. |
